Fowey River
Lions Club organised their first triathlon in September 1984. This was a first
for Cornwall, in what were the early days of this exciting sport.
In the
numerous events, which Fowey River Lions Club have run, only one had to be
shortened due to inclement river conditions. The event has been modified
annually and has become an important date for both competitors and the local
area
For a mini-triathlon, the course is considered very challenging
and takes in the communities of Polruan, Lostwithiel and Fowey. Competitors
start and finish on Fowey Town Quay.
Any proceeds from the event are
donated to charity. Over the years charities such as The Children's Hospice
South West, Multiple Sclerosis, The Mermaid Appeal (Breast Cancer Unit),
Polruan R.N.L.I., Fowey Brownies St. John Ambulance and Polruan Fire
Cadets.
Fowey River Lions Club members look forwarding to welcoming you,
competitor or supporter to this year's event.
For any more information
on the event please dont hesitate to contact us with the details found on the
contact page.
